The FHP said almost 5,000 crashes involving bicycles took place in Florida in the last year, with 121 people killed. The NHTSA suggests that drivers give three (3) feet of clearance when passing bicyclists, yield to cyclists at intersections, and to be mindful of bicyclists’ presence when turning, opening doors, and pulling out of parking spaces.
