Deputies Investigate Oldsmar Fatal Crash ◊ Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office ◊ Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) ◊ CSX Railroad gate damaged
According to investigators, a 79-year-old driver of a Buick and a woman driving Toyota both entered the intersection at the same time resulting in a fatal crash. The driver of the Buick was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa for treatment of life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 6:04 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies say that at this time it appears that one of the parties ran a red light at the intersection. In addition the CSX railroad gate was damaged by one of the vehicles. CSX was notified in reference to the gate crossing damage and will respond to repair.
The investigation continues.
