Attorney G. Alan Tripp, Jr. – Founder & Managing Attorney
Attorney G. Alan Tripp, Jr. was born in Tampa, Florida and is an accomplished Florida personal injury attorney, practicing in the areas of tort, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, products liability, and insurance coverage disputes. He provides aggressive representation to individuals and families who have been injured. Prior to opening the Tripp Law Firm, P.A. he worked as a Law Clerk for Abrahamson, Uiterwyk and Barnes in their Clearwater office. Working in this capacity at the firm allowed him to learn the “law business” which gave him the knowledge and confidence to open this practice in 2007.
He attended Pensacola Christian College (Florida) and is a graduate of Clearwater Christian College (Florida) earning his B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) and earned his Juris Doctorate at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. While at Stetson University College of Law, Mr. Tripp was on the Dean’s List and earned the American Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in his section for Advanced Trial Skills. Stetson University College of Law has been named the American Bar Association’s School of the Year. Stetson University College of Law is Florida’s first law school. It has educated lawyers for more than a century and has been continually ranked as U.S. News and World Report’s #1 in Trial Advocacy and #4 in Legal Writing in the nation and is also among the nation’s top 100 law schools.
As managing attorney at the Tripp Law Firm, Attorney Tripp oversees both the pre-litigation and litigation departments of the firm. He is regularly involved in case strategy, office operations, case review/assignments and directs the associate attorneys of the firm. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Justice Association and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Tripp is a Florida injury lawyer, family man and sports car enthusiast who clients have trusted for over ten (10) years. He is committed to serving his community and is a past contributor to the Gulfcoast Family Newspaper.
Attorney Ian M. Thomas – Associate Attorney
Ian Matthew Thomas was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Growing up, Ian lived in St. Louis, Missouri, San Francisco, California, and Hartford, Connecticut. Ian graduated from Wingate University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Ian attended Stetson University College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate. Prior to joining the Tripp Law Firm, Ian was employed by a local insurance defense firm, where he witnessed first-hand the lengths to which insurance companies will go in order to pay personal injury victims as little as possible. Ian’s experience on the defense side confirmed his desire to become an advocate for victims of personal injury. Ian also spent some time at a Clearwater, Florida plaintiff-oriented personal injury law firm before joining the Tripp Law Firm.
During law school, Ian interned for Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Amy Williams and participated in Stetson’s first Private Practice Internship program, spending a summer working for the firm Akerman Senterfitt in Tampa, Florida. At Stetson, Ian was selected to participate in the prestigious Honors Program and graduated in the top seven percent of his class. In addition to his accomplishments in the legal field, Ian is an accomplished musician. Ian is a classically trained cellist and also plays the guitar, piano, and electric bass. Prior to attending law school, Ian was the member of a band that toured both domestically and internationally.
Ian is a member of the Florida Bar, American Association for Justice, Clearwater Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Life Member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Ian is also admitted to practice in the federal courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
George A. Tripp, Sr., CCLA, FRP, – Firm Administrator
George A. Tripp has been a resident of the Tampa Bay area for almost fifty (50) years. He is a graduate of H.B. Plant High School in Tampa. While attending Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, his education was focused on insurance, business and insurance claims law. Mr. Tripp is a former licensed (6-20) Claims Adjuster, and is now a Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP), Florida Licensed Private Investigator and holds the professional designation of Casualty Claims Law Associate (CCLA) from the American Educational Institute in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Mr. Tripp began his professional career with Allstate Insurance Company in Tampa District Claims Office. He also worked for Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company (MetLife Auto & Home) Southeast Home Office (SEHO), and concluded his insurance career at United Services Automobile Association (USAA) Southeast Regional Home Office (SERHO). During his wide-ranging insurance career, Mr. Tripp was a (6-20) licensed multi-line claims adjuster. He has investigated, evaluated and settled thousands of insurance claims with unrepresented claimants or claimants that were represented by legal counsel. In the early 1980’s when Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) was introduced to the insurance industry, Mr. Tripp began acting as company representative during the mediation process. In 1992, he sold the highest number and dollar volume of structured settlements for his then employer, USAA. During his extensive insurance claims career, he served as a Claims Adjuster, Claims Supervisor, Claims Manager, Claims Trainer, Senior Claims Examiner, and was the President of the West Coast Claims Association. His extensive knowledge in the insurance industry has allowed him to supervise and direct insurance defense counsel in civil litigation cases throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Tripp’s broad range of experience with various lines of insurance, extensive leadership and training experience has allowed him to handle some of the most complex and significant coverage, liability, damage, and extra-contractual liability claims in the insurance industry.
Since 1993, Mr. Tripp now uses this extensive knowledge of the insurance industry to help firm clients in cases and other personal injury and wrongful death claims. He has worked for and been employed by several high-profile attorneys in the Tampa Bay area. He now focuses his energy and effort on assisting our attorneys with investigating the complex issues, medical preparation, and often acts as liaison between the attorney(s) and client. He also assists clients with their special needs and oversees all aspects of case development from inception through final resolution.
Mr. Tripp’s professional affiliations include the American Bar Association (ABA), American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly known as the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, National Federation of Paralegal Associations, and Florida Alliance of Paralegal Associations. In addition, he currently serves as the Executive Secretary for Florida Bible College of Tampa, and formerly served as Chairman of the Board Member for Judgement House and sat on the National Advisory Board for Clearwater Christian College. He was appointed to the City of Seminole’s Developmental Review Board and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the City of Seminole, Florida.
His charitable or volunteer work includes serving with Awana Clubs International, After School Good News Club programs sponsored by CEF and The City of Seminole.
Patrick W. Spoonhour – Legal Assistant – Case Manager
Patrick has been a resident of Pinellas County for over twenty (20) years. He holds a degree in Aeronautical Sciences from the College of the Air Force. Mr. Spoonhour has worked in the health insurance industry as a representative, field underwriter and District Manager. He also has worked for both Tenet Healthcare and Orthopaedic Associates of West Florida performing the duties of insurance collections, contract auditing, and billing. For the past ten (10) years he has worked as a legal assistant and firm representative.
Mr. Spoonhour serves his community and is involved with organizations that seek to assist active duty military and veterans with many of their needs. Many of these activities are done through the Tampa Bay Council of the Navy League of the United States and Wishes 4 our Heroes.
Gary L. Stone, FRP – Florida Registered Paralegal – Case Manager
Gary has been a resident of the Tampa Bay area for almost forty (40) years. He is a graduate of Robinson High School in Tampa. He attended Florida Bible College, and his continued education has included a concentration in Insurance Industry corporate training and study through the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Mr. Stone is a former licensed Claims Adjuster and is now a Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP).
Mr. Stone has over 28 years of experience in the areas of Insurance Claims and Personal Injury matters. He has worked for such companies as Zurich Commercial Insurance Company, Cigna Property and Casualty Insurance Company, Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company, and USAA. During his accomplished career, Mr. Stone was a licensed multi-line adjuster and worked in the capacity of Senior Casualty Adjuster, Bodily Injury Claim Supervisor and was a member of the West Coast Claims Association. Working in these capacities has given him a distinct perspective in dealing with insurance companies and the attorneys that work to defend them as well as a vast knowledge of medical terminology that is so critical to the pursuit of a successful personal injury claim. Mr. Stone is a past board member of the Pregnancy Care Center of Tampa, a non-profit organization focused on assisting mothers in need and their children.
Edgar Vidales – Law Clerk/Legal Intern
Edgar attends Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida. He is a J.D. Candidate for May 2020. His undergraduate degree is in Criminology from the University of South Florida. He comes to our firm with both medical and legal experience.
Working with attorney Christa Carpenter at The Patient’s Law Firm in Palm Harbor he served as her legal assistant conducting potential new client intake interviews, maintained client communication logs, reviewed client’s medical records for discovery purposes, drafted potential questions for interrogatories.
His community and volunteer service has been at the Community and Home Support as a CKSC Fellow and at the Salvation Army as a Spanish instructor.
Edgar’s home is in Safety Harbor, Florida when his is not at Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida.
Chey Tipton – Receptionist / Administration
Chey comes to the firm with an extensive background in personal injury medical practice administration. Her cheerful friendly voice is usually the first one you hear when you call the Tripp Law Firm.
